This project was borne as a 3rd generation iteration starting from a modest single room cabin built in the 1920s with a 1980s addition. With growing family members and evolving needs, homeowners wished for a multi-generational dwelling to accommodate for the extended family
.
The original house went through a deep energy retrofit with a slight bump out of the kitchen/dining area that also transformed the Front Entry of the House.
A new wing was added to the rear that comprised a 2nd dwelling with Universal Design/ wheel-chair accessibility as well as Net Zero Energy ready features.
Intent of Design was to maintain the serene views of the wooded property and to architecturally be integrated with the original main cabin/house. Re-use of lumber harvested from property for interior wall and flooring.
